CRBN NFC Paddle Authentication

CRBN TruFoam Waves paddles are equipped with a NFC chip, which you can scan with your smartphone. Scanning your chip will validate the authenticity of your paddle.

Scan Your Paddle's Handle

Using your smartphone's built in scanner, you can tap on the handle of your Waves paddle on the side with the NFC icon.

NFC Chip Authentication FAQs

Each TruFoam Waves paddle includes a built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) chip located in the top of the handle. This chip allows you to quickly verify that your paddle is authentic and register your warranty in just a few seconds using your smartphone.

We added NFC technology to protect players from counterfeit paddles and to make warranty registration easier. When you scan the chip, you’ll instantly know your paddle is genuine and can register it if purchased through an authorized retailer.

Currently, all TruFoam Waves Paddles (TFW1, TFW2, TFW3 and TFW4) are equipped with NFC chips.

Look for the NFC logo on the face of your paddle handle (below the CRBN molecule icon). Move your phone up and down the paddle's hand on that side to start the scan.

1. Unlock your smartphone.

2. Hold the back (or top) of your phone close to the NFC logo on the paddle handle.

  • iPhones: The NFC reader is near the top of the phone.
  • Android phones: The reader is usually on the back, around the center.

3. A notification should pop up on your screen. Tap it to open the authentication page.

No. NFC scanning works directly through your phone. Just tap your phone to the paddle handle, and your browser will open automatically.

  • Make sure NFC is turned on in your phone settings (most modern phones have it on by default).
  • Move your phone slowly around the NFC logo on the handle until you find the “sweet spot.”
  • Remove thick phone cases or metal-backed cases that may block the signal.
  • If it still doesn’t work, try another NFC-enabled phone.

You’ll be taken to a CRBN verification page that confirms your paddle is authentic. If you purchased your paddle from an authorized retailer, you can click a button to activate your paddle’s 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

No. Paddles purchased directly from crbnpickleball.com are automatically registered for warranty. The NFC chip is still useful for authenticity verification.

Scanning the NFC chip is free. The only data used is a small amount to open the verification page in your mobile browser.

Yes. You can scan your paddle as many times as you’d like to confirm authenticity. Warranty registration only needs to be completed once.

NFC scanning will still confirm authenticity, but warranty coverage only applies to the original purchaser from an authorized retailer.

  • iPhone: iPhone 7 and newer models (iOS 11 or later).
  • Android: Most modern smartphones (Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, etc.) have NFC enabled. Check your phone’s settings to confirm.

Not at all. The chip is tiny, sealed inside the handle, and has zero impact on performance, weight, or balance.

No - most CRBN demo paddles are not equipped with NFC chips.
